The Leesburg Flower & Garden show was a great success this year with over 30,000 visitors. The Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad coordinated a hands-on training exercise instructing members about the technical details of vehicle extrication. Operating extrication equipment, wearing personal protective gear and coordinating rescue efforts ensures a successful drill and prepares them for actual rescues.

The Leesburg Rotary Club and REHAU, a global company headquartered in Leesburg, coordinated the 15th Annual Resolution Race at Ida Lee Park on New Years Day. Patty Russell and Dave Galen of the Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad provided EMS stand by services ensuring that participants made it through without incident.

Despite the brisk weather, thousands of parade watchers lined King Street today to ring in the holidays. Each Halloween since 1957 the Leesburg Kiwanis have sponsored the Halloween Parade down King Street in Historic Downtown Leesburg. For the first time in 150 years, 1000 Union and Confederate re-enactors participated in an “engagement” commemorating the Sesquicentennial of the Loudoun County battle. Elizabeth Baroody and Karland Moore of the Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad participated in the 911 motorcycle ride on Friday August 18 commemorating the lives sacrificed on September 11, 2001.
