Working Fire Alarms Save Lives!

National Fire Prevention Week was celebrated at the Leesburg Volunteer Fire Company Open House on Saturday October 4, 2014. Firetruck rides were the highlight for “junior” firefighters. It was a great opportunity for the community to see equipment demonstrations and the protective gear utilized by volunteer and career firefighters in emergency situations. The Leesburg Police Dept., the Loudoun County Volunteer Rescue Squad, the Fire Marshall’s Office and the American Red Cross Disaster Relief team demonstrated how all public safety personnel work together to protect us. There was plenty of time for fun at the dunk tank and meeting “Dolly” the bomb-sniffing dog. Ambulance and police motorcycle tours coupled with an auction and great food made for a family friendly outing. Test your smoke alarms monthly and continue to support your local fire company and rescue squad.
